Why travelers stop here
On the way to Eurwangni Beach, there are many oddly shaped rocks and stones. Among them, Seonnyeobawi is named after a legend that fairies came down on a rainbow and played on the rocks that rise densely above the sea. The sharp rocks harmonize well with the ocean scenery, and the waves gently breaking against the rocks are exquisite. There is a legend about Seonnyeobawi. A military officer commanding the naval forces of Yeongjongjin had a concubine. When their love fell apart, the concubine threw herself into the sea from a rock called Taepyeongam in Yeongjongjin. No one retrieved her body, and it drifted to the port of Yongyudo. The officer later regretted his actions and buried her body. After that, Taepyeongam, where the woman had jumped, was called Seonnyeobawi, and it is said that on clear nights, fairies come down on rainbows to play there. The shape of the rock resembles a praying woman, and it is also said that wishes made in front of the rock come true.
