Turtle Rock (Geobukbawi)

In Wangsan-ri Tonggae Port, there is a rock shaped like a turtle on a large flat rock foundation. Looking at the shape of this rock, it faces the direction of Yeonpyeongdo with its mouth open, and its tail faces the village. According to legend, a guest who was served a meal at a funeral of the Samhyeonpa Gimhae Kim family said that if a grave site was chosen facing Turtle Rock, future generations would enjoy wealth and honor, and the family followed this advice. Later, when the Kim family entered the mining industry and became wealthy, the three Kim brothers used their own funds to build convenience facilities and carry out charitable projects to alleviate the hardships of island residents.
