Supullo Samhoeri

Supullo is a restored ecological space created in 2010 to protect the water quality of the Han River, Bukhangang River, and Paldang Reservoir. The area covers 248,252㎡ in Samho-ri, Cheongpyeong-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, where concrete retaining walls were removed to restore the disconnected river and forest. There are four such sites, and Supullo Samhoeri is the largest among them. This place is often called a 'carbon-eating forest' because thousands of young trees with high carbon absorption rates, such as zelkova and oak, have been planted here, and the terrain is entirely flat. It also serves as a site for observing various species, including endangered species, and for providing hands-on ecological education tailored to different levels. It is used as a venue for water quality improvement promotion and ecosystem education.

Visitors can see the visitor center, experience education hall, promotion hall, bookstore, observatory, ecological restoration area, and constructed wetland. Ecological tours and craft experience classes are offered free of charge. In addition to reducing non-point source pollution and enhancing biodiversity, it contributes to Korea's carbon neutrality as a large-scale carbon sink. The Eco-Tearing education program is divided into levels for preschoolers, lower elementary, upper elementary, middle school, and adults (high school and adults), and is a customized exploration program led by interpreters using textbooks and experience kits. Online reservations allow for group rentals or self-guided tours, and self-guided tours can utilize level-specific textbooks provided at unmanned kiosks.
