Why travelers stop here
Located near Daewol Elementary School, the Korean Christian History Museum is the only Christian history museum in Korea, housing over 100,000 items including books, newspapers, magazines, documents, postcards, and photographs related to Korean Christianity. It was established to provide academic research materials on Korean Christianity and to introduce the faith and lives of early Christians, rather than having such materials held by Christian publishers or individuals. The museum originated from Jeongmunsa, founded in 1955 in Daegu by Pastor Lee Seong-ho of Pyeongbuk Church and elders Jeong Hak-seon, Jeong Yeong-rok, and Han Yeong-je as a document missionary organization. After collecting Christian materials for publishing quality Christian books, the Hyangsan Christian Culture Research Institute was established to preserve at-risk documentary materials, leading to the current museum. The museum, with two floors above ground and one basement level, consists of a permanent exhibition hall, special exhibition hall, seminar room, and archive room. The museum has closed days, so it is recommended to make a reservation through the 'Visit Reservation Request' on the website at least one day before visiting. It is about a 9-minute drive from Icheon IC. Nearby attractions include Sagimakgol Pottery Village, Yes Park, Seongho Lake Lotus Complex, Hantaek Botanical Garden, Jisan Forest Resort Ski Resort, Icheon Termeden, and Deokpyeong Dinosaur Arboretum.
