Maesan Market

Maesan Market is a traditional market located right in front of Suwon Station, and it is the latest market to be formed in Suwon, having been registered in 2011. The name Maesan (梅山) comes from the abundance of梅花 trees, and the market began as street vendors gathered one by one along a covered stream. Through a landscape improvement project, the stalls and signs were upgraded, and LED lighting and line lighting were installed to modernize the facilities. The market sells agricultural, fishery, livestock products, and industrial goods. Notably, as the main customers of Maesan Market are foreigners such as Chinese, Filipinos, Nepalese, and Indians, there are many types of vegetables and spices that are unfamiliar at first glance. The signs are uniformly organized, making it pleasant to look at, and plum blossoms symbolizing Maesan Market are hung in each store, indicating that it is Maesan Market. The market also operates a Merchant University to provide continuous education for the merchants.
