Makdong Valley

Makdong Valley, which flows down from the waist of Baeseoksan Mountain, also known as Namul Mountain, is considered one of the most scenic valleys flowing into Odaesan Stream, along with Danimgol Valley and Jangjeon Valley. There are only a few private homes in the wide area 1.5 km above the valley, and no other sources of pollution, so the water is clear and the rocky scenery of the valley is excellent. Strange rocks and dense forests create a panoramic view of hidden beauty. At the entrance of the valley, there is a three-tier waterfall, and the sight of the waterfall falling about 5 meters is visible from the roadside, so even passing by in a vehicle seems to cool off the midsummer heat. The area around Makdong Valley is famous for wild greens. Wild greens such as gondre, ttagjuki, gomchwi, namulchwi, jandae, gosari, deodeok, doraji, deureup, sanminari, and wonchuri, as well as medicinal herbs such as dang-gwi, sesin, cheolnamsaeng-i, banha, indong, and chik, are abundant, and in spring, local villagers and hikers from outside visit. The wild greens grow in colonies, so this place is called by local names such as Chamnamul Field, Chamnamul Slope, and Chamnamul Valley, and depending on their location, they are divided into East Field, West Field Valley, etc.
