Seungilgyo Bridge

Seungilgyo Bridge in Cheorwon was constructed starting in August 1948 under communist rule, with residents from the Cheorwon and Gimhwa areas mobilized under the name of 'Labor Works Corps' (Noryeok Gongjakdae). Construction was halted due to the Korean War (6·25). It was later completed by the South Korean government in 1958.

The bridge's structural elements, such as the size of the arches, are visibly different between the northern and southern sections from the center, reflecting the unique circumstances of national division and war. Beyond its historical significance, the bridge is noted for its beautiful form and sculptural aesthetics.
