Why travelers stop here
Before a bridge named Seonae-gyo was built over the Pyeongchang River, the only way to enter this village was by boat. The name Baeduduk came from the idea of climbing up a hill by boat. The village was also called Sol-eondeok, meaning a hill with many pine trees. Baeduduk Village is nestled cozily at the foot of a mountain across the Pyeongchang River, and its topography fits well with the feng shui principle of the Blue Dragon on the left and the White Tiger on the right. Surrounded by peaks such as Jangmi-san and Seungdu-bong like a folding screen, the village feels warm and welcoming upon entry. It is a mountain village that produces abundant agricultural products such as potatoes and cabbages, as well as freshwater fish.
