Gwaneumsa·Gukhyeongsa Valley

Gwaneumsa·Gukhyeongsa Valley is a valley located in Haenggu-dong, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do, adjacent to Chiaksan National Park. This valley flows beside Gukhyeongsa Temple, a thousand-year-old temple founded during the reign of King Gyeongsun, and boasts outstanding scenery with its clean valley water harmonizing with the surrounding lush forests. Visitors can enjoy the sight of the water flowing down from above, forming small waterfalls and winding its way down. In summer, it is also a good place to set up a small tent and enjoy a cool summer. However, it should be noted that the current is strong and the terrain is not wide or flat, making it unsuitable as a place for children to play in the water. It is said that there were once as many as 76 large and small temples in Chiaksan, but now only temples such as Yeongwonsa, Bomunsa, Gukhyeongsa, and Gwaneumsa remain, continuing the lineage of Buddhist culture. Among them, Gukhyeongsa is the point where Course 1 and Course 11 of the Chiaksan Dulle-gil trail meet, and visitors also walk along the trail following the valley.
