Romijian Garden

Located at Hwabong Peak of Gariwangsan Mountain in Jeongseon, this garden covers an area of approximately 330,000㎡. It was created starting in 2011 by Son Jin-ik, chairman of the Elbest Group, for his wife who was in poor health. ‘Jian’ is Chairman Son’s pen name, and ‘Romi’ is his pet name for his wife. Later, to make it a ‘space offering warm comfort and insight’ to more people, it was opened in 2017. Inside the garden, moments of healing, reflection, and contemplation of Romi and Jian unfold in sequence. The first gateway, ‘Life’s Two Scenes,’ is the first message Romijian Garden conveys to visitors: ‘Time to see the true self.’ The Tower of Life encountered at the first fork is made of Canadian cedar trees aged 500 to 600 years. It symbolizes the life cycles of birth (green), youth (red), and completion (black). Gasibuseoseong is the landmark of Romijian Garden. ‘Gasibuseo’ is a pure Korean word meaning a married couple, and it serves as an observatory offering a panoramic view of the surrounding mountain range. The Arahan Valley Pilgrimage Trail, a 4-hour 30-minute course, and the Geumgangsong Forest Bathing Area, where Geumgang pine trees grow in clusters, also provide time for introspection and contemplation. A limestone colony preserving 150 million years of history and the Aura of the Sky are also attractions. Additionally, the garden features a café where visitors can relax with a cup of coffee and guest rooms for overnight stays.
