Daeseungnyeong Pass and Daeseung Waterfall

Inje Daeseungnyeong and Daeseung Waterfall are attractions within Seoraksan National Park. Daeseungnyeong is a pass on the northwest ridge of Seoraksan Mountain, and as the first pass entering Inner Seorak, crossing this pass allows descent toward Baekdamsa Temple or the Twelve Fairy Maidens Valley, creating a magnificent scene of craggy cliffs, waterfalls, and valleys.

Daeseung Waterfall is located 1 km north of Daeseungnyeong Pass, where an 88-meter-tall column of water falls in a spectacular display. Along with Bakyeon Falls in Gaeseong and Guryong Falls in Mount Geumgang, it is considered one of Korea's three major waterfalls and is said to have been a summer resort of King Gyeongsun of Silla. On a rock platform on the hill opposite Daeseung Waterfall, the characters '九天銀河' (Gucheun Eunha, meaning 'Silver River of the Nine Heavens') written by Yang Sa-eon of the Joseon Dynasty are carved. The trail from Jangsu-dae to Daeseung Waterfall is less frequented than other trails in Seoraksan, but ascending past Daeseung Waterfall leads to the Twelve Fairy Maidens Valley, which begins at Boksungatang via Ansan (1430.4m), or descending directly north from Daeseungnyeong connects to Baekdamsa Temple via Heukseondong Valley.
