Hyoseok Literature Forest

A forest themed around Lee Hyo-seok's novel "When Buckwheat Blooms," located across from Hyoseok Culture & Art Village. Situated in Changdong-ri, Bongpyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, the forest recreates the background of the novel and is a forest recreation space where visitors can explore Lee Hyo-seok's literary world. "When Buckwheat Blooms" is a modern Korean novel that depicts the life and sorrows of a traveling peddler who roams the country's markets, written in a poetic style. Hyoseok Literature Forest features sculptures of characters along a wooden deck walking trail, Chungju House (the inn where the protagonist Heo Saeng-won and Dong-i quarreled), a water mill where Heo Saeng-won and Seong's daughter shared love, a forest library, and rest areas. Rocks engraved with sentences from the novel are placed sporadically, allowing visitors to naturally explore the settings of the work while reading. The trail is lined with lush trees and various wildflowers, offering a glimpse of the beautiful nature of Bongpyeong where the author spent his childhood. There are also photo-worthy spots such as a birch tree observatory and an omija (schisandra) tunnel.
