Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Gasane Lee Hyo-seok was the author of 'When Buckwheat Flowers Bloom,' a representative work of Korean modern short fiction. Numerous people visit Bongpyeong, the setting of this work, every year. After years of dedication from Pyeongchang-gun and the residents of Bongpyeong-myeon, the Lee Hyo-seok Literature Museum was opened. It houses many materials, including the author's handwritten manuscripts and photographs. Chungjujip, the favorite tavern of Heo Saeng-won and Dong-i in the novel, was originally located at the entrance of the Bongpyeong market, but it has been restored within Gasane Park, with a marker stone placed at its original site.
