Gongsujeon Valley

Located in Jangseung-ri, Gongsujeon Valley belongs to the lower reaches of the Huchen Stream, which originates from Eungbongsa Temple at an elevation of 1,360m. It features Yongso (Dragon Pool) and waterfalls, which are associated with the legend of a dragon ascending to heaven, as well as Tangso, which is said to sound like boiling water. A log-built rest area called Yongsogol Rest Area adds to the charm of the valley. With dense pine forests, clear water, and white pebble and sand beaches, it is a beautiful scenic spot where every bend of the water forms a pool, and the water is so clear that it is crowded with people enjoying water activities during the summer vacation season. During the Joseon Dynasty, there was an institution called Gongsujeon where officials on official trips received travel expenses, and the valley is named after it. It is also a popular spot for anglers due to the abundance of fish such as the Korean mandarin fish and the mandarin fish. A campsite operates every July and August, where cooking is allowed and clean shower facilities are available. Nearby tourist attractions include Osaek Mineral Water, Osaek Hot Springs, and Naksansa Temple, which are worth visiting together.
