Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
38 Peace Village is a small village in Jankyo-ri, Yangyang-gun, that preserves the pain and memories of the Korean War, boasting outstanding natural scenery where the sea, mountains, and valleys harmonize. When the 38th parallel was drawn at the Yalta Conference of the great powers, the village was tragically divided in two by the 38th parallel running through its center, and even now, some of the village's old trees bear traces of bullets and bombs. Various events are held each season, including full moon events, summer beach festivals, wild arrowroot picking experiences, and shiitake mushroom and bracken fern harvesting experiences. Various experiences linked to eco-friendly certified specialty products such as eco-friendly snail rice, shiitake mushrooms, bracken ferns, red peppers, and soybeans are also offered.
