Why travelers stop here
This is a path where people in the past carried salt purchased at Bukpyeong Market in Donghae-si on jige (A-frame carriers) to Jeongseon-gun. It holds the joys and sorrows of our ancestors' lives and is significant as a place of barter where salt and seafood from Donghae-si were exchanged for wild herbs and medicinal plants from Jeongseon-gun. Today's Baekdudaegan Donghae Salt Road is an 18.7km walking trail divided into three courses. Although each course has a different starting point, it is also possible to complete the entire route by linking two courses. The main section of Course 1, Baekdudaegan Ecological Trail (7.1km, round trip 5 hours), is from Sinheung Village Large Parking Lot to Yongso Waterfall to Jumak-teo to Wonbangjae. It is a path passing through cool valleys and ponds (so), requiring crossing several stepping stones. The main section of Course 2, Igiryeong Deobaji-gil (6.6km, round trip 4 hours), is from Igi Village Jangjae-teo to Miyeokneol-i Entrance (Jumak-teo) to Igiryeong Summit. Past Jumak-teo, a dense larch forest appears, and you pass through Miyeokneol-i, where a vast rock formation spreads out as if seaweed has been laid out to dry. Course 3, Geumgok-dong Old Road (5km, round trip 4 hours), starts at Mureung District 3 (abandoned quarry entrance) and arrives at Miyeokneol-i Entrance (Jumak-teo), and is the easiest of the three courses. The viewpoint is above K2 Lake in the abandoned quarry. Two emerald-colored artificial lakes surrounded by mountain slopes create an exotic landscape.

※Course 1: 192-1 Sinheung-dong, Donghae-si, Gangwon-do
※Course 2: 83 Igi-dong, Donghae-si, Gangwon-do
※Course 3: 774 Samhwa-dong, Donghae-si, Gangwon-do
