Gwangmyeonghang

Gwangmyeonghang is a small port on Muuido Island overlooking Somuuido Island. In the past, it was a port where boats departed for Somuuido Island, but with the construction of the Somuuido pedestrian bridge, the role of Gwangmyeonghang has changed. Instead of its former function as a dock for passenger ships, it has become the terminus for buses carrying tourists visiting the Somuuido Sea Nuri-gil Trail. After taking a boat from Yongyudo Jamjin Dock to Muuido and disembarking at Keunmuri Dock, you can take a village public bus to Gwangmyeonghang. From here, crossing the Somuuido pedestrian bridge leads directly to the Somuuido Sea Nuri-gil Trail. Gwangmyeonghang is also a gateway to Horyonggoksan Mountain, a popular climbing course on Muuido. For this reason, along with Hanagae Beach, it serves as an important starting point for trips to Muuido and Somuuido. Currently, pensions and raw fish restaurants are springing up nearby, making the area more vibrant than before. In the past, Gwangmyeonghang was abundant in seafood such as shrimp and croaker, which were even exported to Japan, but now it is a popular fishing spot frequented by local fishermen and anglers catching blue crabs, conch, and webfoot octopus.
