Why travelers stop here
Located in Bongilcheon, Jori-eup, Paju-si, Bongilcheon General Market is a mixed-use residential and commercial market with 197 stores. It has been with the residents of Bongilcheon since 1945, carrying on 70 years of tradition, history, and the warmth of its merchants. Once known as one of the four major markets in Gyeonggi Province, it was famous as a cattle market since the Joseon Dynasty, and in 1919, the Gongneung Market Day Independence Movement took place here. After the Korean War, the center shifted to Geumchon, where the train station was located, causing the market to shrink in size. It was officially registered as a traditional market in 2017.
