강원특별자치도 양양군 서면 약수길 132

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

The Three-Story Stone Pagoda in Osaek-ri, Yangyang is a stone pagoda located at the presumed site of Osaek Seoksa Temple. It stands about 5 meters tall and is made of granite. Originally completely collapsed, it was restored in 1971. Although not large in scale, the stonework is excellent, the overall proportions are balanced, and its appearance is neat and elegant. The pagoda is built on five base stones, following the Silla dynasty stone pagoda style, with two tiers of the base platform and three stories of the pagoda body above, topped with a decorative finial at the summit. Pillar shapes are carved on the base, and on the top stone of the upper base platform, grooves for rainwater runoff are marked at the four corners. The pagoda body consists of a single stone for each story's main body and roof stone, with pillar shapes carved at each corner of the body stones. The roof stones slope from the upper part and curve slightly upward at the four corners.
